Crusoe 7-10 Secondary College is an innovative and dynamic Year 7-10 College with an enrolment which has increased from 595 students in 2003 to 758 in 2006. A particular feature of the enrolment is the changed ratio of Boys to Girls – 303 Boys 292 Girls in 2003 and 355 Boys 403 Girls in 2006. The College is located in the Southwest sector of the City of Greater Bendigo which has an overall population of 93,000. The College is one of a cluster of 5 7-10 Colleges linked to the Bendigo Senior Secondary College where students undertake their Year 11-12 studies. There are a number of competing private Colleges in the City. Crusoe 7-10 Secondary College is in Like School Group (LSG) 7. A small number of indigenous students attend the College. Students are drawn from a large outlying rural area in addition to local urban residential areas. The Kangaroo Flat Primary School has relocated to a new school adjacent to the College. Many students travel to the College by bus, using the local town service or the DE&T contract bus system. The College acts as a bus terminal for all students who may travel on to other Colleges in Bendigo. All students have access to a balanced curriculum and we believe students achieve their best in a stimulating, challenging and safe environment in which their uniqueness is recognised. Our Middle Years Program including team teaching and double classrooms is well known throughout the state as we have many visitors coming to see and learn from our dedicated and enthusiastic staff. The Leading Schools Fund (LSF) strongly influences the programs within the school context. The student focus of Literacy, Numeracy, Student Connectedness and Attendance will impact on Teacher and School Effectiveness and the overall aim of promoting mobile life long learners and improved student outcomes and engagement. We are very proud of our extensive and state of the art ICT infrastructure. Our innovative use of learning technologies extends across all KLA classrooms. The Bendigo Education Plan (BEP) and its associated Business Case has the potential to impact greatly on our College. The recommendations for students, curriculum, teachers, governance and school design are significant for Kangaroo Flat. The School Structure proposals are important considerations which will influence future operations and planning for the College. Total college staffing, including part-time teaching staff and non-teaching staff in 2005 is approximately 69 (EFT). |
