EAL (English as an Additional Language)

An intensive EAL program is offered to new arrivals and to students who have little or no English. These classes aim to teach English, the ‘language of’ the subjects taught in Year 7 and assist each student with their transition into Australian schooling. In addition, the EAL team also provides assistance to individual students who are studying mainstream subjects but may require some support to meet the challenges of secondary education. Regular contact is made with parents to advise them how their child is progressing and translating services can also be provided.

During 2019, the team consists of Mr Peter Scott (EAL Coordinator), Ms Merrilyn Gaulke (EAL teacher), and Tha Lay Paw (Multicultural Education Aid).
