Students are able to attend Crusoe College from a wide urban and rural area by bus. Within the urban area students who use the bus system are able to obtain concession fares. Application forms for student concession travel are available from the Bendigo Railway Station, Christian’s Bus Co. or the General Office at Crusoe College.
COUNTRY BUS TRAVELLERS
Please find attached to this information the quick reference guide to register on the online portal Student Travel Assistance Program (STAP) that replaces the old Student Bus Management System (SBMS). This new portal was introduced in 2023 and is an online portal where families will register as the user of portal and then apply for the student to be the bus traveller.
The STAP Help Desk contact details are:-
Phone – 1800 338 663 / Email – schoolbus@education.vic.gov.au
Alternatively, at Crusoe College our school based Bus Coordinator is:-
Colleen Biggs – Phone – 5447 7722 (ext 221) / Email – colleen.biggs@education.vic.gov.au
This new online service is for families who live outside the local residential suburbs (e.g. Shelbourne, Lockwood etc). Each year the families will need to renew their bus travellers while at Crusoe College, then once they move onto Bendigo Senior Secondary they will re-apply listing the new school. Once your application is submitted it usually takes 24-48 hours for an ‘offer’ to be made via the portal. Once you receive your notification of the ‘offer’ go in and accept the ‘offer’ of the seat on the bus service.
Students who travel on the STAP program must follow the Bus Company rules and also the Crusoe College rules as they are in uniform while travelling the students are representing Crusoe College. If there is any misbehaviour on the buses, it is the Principal’s or the Regional Bus Coordinators decision as to what discipline is required. All buses have video surveillance cameras and the drivers will inform the school of any anti-social or unacceptable behaviour.

PTV SCHOOL TOWN SPECIAL (STS)
These services are operated by Christians Bus Company under the auspices of PTV (Public Transport Victoria). These special services are for school students only and we will attach the updated timetable for services into and out of Crusoe College Bus Loop for 2024. This service requires a MYKI card to travel.
Linked below is the is a PTV student ID/bus pass application for students who are using the town services and live a distance of 4.6k in a direct line from the designated school. In the application the families need to supply 2 x passport size photos and have them verified by Crusoe College before submitting the application to the train station/PTV hub.
The cost for 12 months is $274 + the cost of the MYKI card where the PTV Hub/train station staff will upload the yearly fee to it. We recommend that the MYKI be registered so if the student loses it families can put a stop on the card while they get a replacement card. The student can use this card to travel to Melbourne/buses/trains etc and as an ID card. Families may be able to claim the cost back through Conveyance claims. There is an application form families can get from General Office.

The above services STAP & STS all drop off and depart from the bus loop located on Mackenzie Street West. This bus loop is supervised by our staff both in the morning and afternoon. In the afternoon our Bus Supervisor is Laura McGlashan, plus a staff member. Laura will assist any students that have concerns or think they have missed their bus. If Laura cannot help, she will contact Colleen Biggs, the school-based Bus Coordinator, for support.
